BENGALURU: Metro services on the purple line were affected during peak hours today between MG Road and Baiyappanahalli station due to failure in power supply. However, services were normal between MG Road and Challaghatta and Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield.
Hundreds of passengers were stranded at the stations between MG Road and Baiyappanahalli for more than an hour, leaving them fuming. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) had earlier in the day expressed regret for the inconvenience and assured to restore services soon. Normal traffic resumed after 10.30 am.
According to Namma Metro officials, the disruption was caused due to a problems in power supply distribution, but they were not sure about the cause.
At the Challaghatta Metro station, a notice was pasted outside saying ‘No train service’, leading to anger among commuters. Many took autorickshaws and cabs to reach their destinations. The Hoysala patrol squads also made announcement near Metro stations directing passengers to proceed to the nearest bus stop.
