KARWAR, DHARWAD: Over 600 people from Uttara Kannada district are stuck in Israel as the country is waging a war with Hamas terrorists since the last three days. So far, the district administration has been able to collect information of about 300 people.
Most of those in Israel are from Honnavar, Bhatkal, Karwar and Sirsi and surrounding places. With no information from the Union government, the district administration has put out a notification seeking details from citizens about their family members stuck there.
Rozar Lupiz, an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Baithkol in Karwar, is worried for his wife Christma, who is working as a home caregiver in Tel Aviv for the last seven years. He doesn’t even have money to bring her back home. He had borrowed loans to send her to Israel so that they could secure the future of their children.
“They are holed up in a bunker and I am in touch with her every day, but I don’t have money to get her back, Lupiz said.
