BENGALURU: The Attibele police have arrested a gang of notorious inter-state robbers who would tie up people and rob their houses.
The arrested accused have been identified as N Satish Kumar, Manikantan, Satish, Ayyanar, Kiran and Satish alias Mutton Satish, all hailing from Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
They were involved in several theft cases. According to the police, they used to break into houses when someone was and would tie up their hands and feet. In Anekal, the gang robbed Keertana of her gold ornaments.
The gang had also broken into the house of LIC agent Devarajegowda at Kumar Layout in Attibele on November 28 last year.
The gang came to his house three times in the guise of getting an LIC policy and then committed the robbery. The accused tied the hands and feet of the elderly man with tape, pasted his mouth, threatened him with a sharp weapon, and demanded Rs 12,50,000. They took away gold jewelry and cash.
The accused, Manikanthan, who was staying in a rented house near Devaraj Gowda’s house, had gathered information about the people living in the house and about the money. Later, they committed theft.
In another case, the gang broke into the house of Narayanaswamy at Anugondanahalli in Hoskote on January 23 and robbed the inmates after threatening them with a knife.
The police seized gold jewellery worth Rs 11 lakh from the arrested. Bengaluru Rural SP Mallikarjuna Baladindi praised the work of the Attibele police.
