BENGALURU: A massive revolution is under way in the digital era advanced technologies are becoming part of people’s work and in many ways. Now, adopting technological advancements, the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases in the city has introduced the tele robot technology for providing better service for patients.
The tele robot serves has been started at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases with the aim of providing infection-free treatment to patients in the ICU. During Covid-19, the hospital had successfully used this technology for limited beds. Now, the tele-robotic technology is being expanded for the entire ICU unit. This robot will help communicate with the patients and doctors can monitor multiple patients remotely.
Dr C Nagaraj, director, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases, briefing about the robot technology, said, “There is a separate command and control room for the robot with an operator. The medical specialist will interact with patients through the tele robot, and sometimes the patients can also talk to their entire family as only one person is allowed inside the ICU. In that case, patients may lose courage, fortitude. During such times, the tele robot will help build courage in patients and their ‘ family members can talk to them from the command room”.
