BENGALURU: With Bakrid set to be celebrated on Thursday, heavy police security arrangements have been made at the Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet where Muslim community leaders are set to lead prayers. The police have barricaded the stage and deployed personnel as a precautionary measure.
Thousands of Muslim community members are expected to take part in the prayers and a stage has been set up from where religious leaders will lead the prayers and has been barricaded. The BBMP staff have also cleaned up the entire grounds in preparation for the prayer meeting where some dignitaries are also expected to participate.
Meanwhile, the BBMP has banned the sacrifice of animals has been banned on footpaths and public places. Slaughter is permitted only in licenced slaughter houses. Those violating rules will face six months in jail/fine or both under the relevant rules.
According to a BBMP notification, slaughter of animals is banned on roads, footpaths, hospitals, nursing homes, schools and colleges, parks, temples, mosques and other religious places apart from public places.
