BENGALURU: City police commissioner B Dayananda on Tuesday said that he has requested DG&IGP Alok Mohan to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the bitcoin scam.

“A case was registered at the Cottonpet police station and two things emerged from the investigation — that there could be a statewide racket and an international network. It requires more technical investigation and hence, we wrote to the DG&IGP seeking and SIT probe. It is up to the government to hand over further probe to any agency.”, he said while addressing a press conference.

The driver and conductor of a KSRTC Airavat bus were presented commendation certificates.

The police commissioner also lauded two KSRTC staffers who had prevented theft of Rs 5 lakh from their bus by chasing and nabbing one of the thieves near Electronics City on June 14. Airavat bus driver Manjunath and conductor Somappa had caught hold of one person who was fleeing after stealing the cash from another passenger in their bus which was coming from Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru.

The police chief presented them with commendation certificates and prizes for displaying presence of mind and bravery.
