BENGALURU: Veteran actor Sarath Babu (72) passed away on Friday after prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad, but died without responding to treatment.
The actor was being treated at a hospital in Bengaluru in the first week of April after he suddenly fell ill. Later, he was shifted from Bengaluru to a Hyderabad hospital as his health condition worsened. The actor was suffering from multi-organ failure, had difficulty in breathing and was kept on ventilator support.
The veteran South actor Sarath Babu made his first on-screen appearance in the film ‘Rama Rajyam’ in 1973 and has acted in more than 200 films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages over nearly four decades. He has acted in more than 20 films in Kannada among which ‘Amritavarshini’ was a super hit. He was recognised in the role of a police officer in many movies. He acted in ‘Shakti’, ‘Kampana’, ‘Ranachandi ‘and many other films.
Sarath Babu was married to Ramaprabha and Sneha Nambiar, but had divorced both of them.
