Minister Ashoka files nomination papers in Kanakapura, says he’s confident of win

RAMANAGARA: Revenue Minister R Ashoka, who is contesting from Kanakapura against Congress state president D K Shivakumar, on Tuesday submitted his nomination after holding a mega roadshow through the main streets of the town.

Ashoka also launched his campaign in the constituency where he will be eyeing Vokkaliga votes. While filing his nomination, he was accompanied by BJP general secretary in charge of Karnataka, Arun Singh, Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan and thousands of party workers. Earlier, they visited the Kallahalli Venkataramana temple and offered prayers.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashoka exuded confidence of winning the election from Kanakapura. “The party has given me the opportunity to contest from two seats. I was jailed during Indira Gandhi’s time and the workers know the pain. I have come here as a representative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people want a double-engine government. The people here have said that if I contest, they will elect me. I have full confidence that I will win”, he said.

Ashoka will also be contesting from his borough Padmanabha Nagar in Bengaluru.
