BALLARI: A police constable attached to the district armed reserve (DAR) died under suspicious circumstances at the police quarters on Wednesday night.
The constable, identified as Jaffer, was found bleeding from his ears and was shifted to VIMS with serious injuries, but he did not respond to treatment. It is suspected that he was first made to lose consciousness and then attacked with an iron rod.
Jaffer had joined the DAR in 2009 and had got married for a second time after divorcing his first wife. The first wife was a Muslim woman and he had been paying her monthy maintenance after divorce. His second wife is a Hindu and works as a nurse.
It is said that the divorced woman had visited the couple a few days ago and an argument had ensued. The Gandhi Nagar police visited the spot and have taken up further investigation.
