BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner’s car violated traffic norms 19 times in one year. Cases have been booked against the vehicle for violations such as parking in a ‘No Parking’ zone, signal jumping, defective number plates, one-way violation among others.
The fines have accumulated over one year and are yet to be paid. The total fines for the 19 cases add up to Rs 10,000 and, if the BBMP, avails the 50 per cent rebate in traffic fines announced by the government for a period of 10 days from March 4, then it will have to pay only Rs 5,000.
Meanwhile, citizens are questioning the BBMP chief commissioner for the string of violation of traffic rules and felt that he should be a model for others by in following traffic rules.
