Senior writer Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy passes away at 75

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Senior Kannada writer and thinker Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy died on Wednesday after battling prolonged illness.

Guruswamy (75) was suffering from cancer for the last few years. He was being treated intensive care unit (ICU) at the JSS Hospital in Mysuru for the last one week. But on Wednesday night, he did not respond to treatment and died.

Guruswamy has authored more than five novels and has written more than 10 opuses. He is the recipient of many awards including the Rajyotsava Awards and the Mahakavi Shadakshara Deva Memorial Award. The family members decided to perform his last rites on Thursday at his home in Maleyuru of Chamarajanagar district.
