BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police have also raided the Banashankari residence of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL) Managing Director and IAS officer Dr Mahesh and found Rs 3,33,000 in cash. They also found Rs 10 lakh worth of gold jewellery and 7 kg of silver articles. However, after relevant documents were produced, the cash and articles were returned.

The Lokayukta officials raided his rented house when he was still in office on Thursday evening. Dr Mahesh to posted to KSDL just six months ago and it is said that he was pressured by Prashant Madal, son of KSDL chairman Madal Virupakshappa, in matters of issuing contracts, approving purchases and other issues.

Reacting to the development, Dr Mahesh told Public TV, “The Lokayukta officials came on Thursday evening, but there were no documents at home. I returned home a bit late. They had sought some documents and I have given it to them”. To a question on whether he has been called for questioning, he simply said, “I don’t know what will happen”.

On Friday morning, he did not turn up at the office and informed the staff that he would come only in the afternoon. He had apparently sent word to his driver not not come near the house.
