After HC takes up suo motu case in Metro pillar crash, police send notices

BENGALURU: The police officials have sent notices to all the accused in the Nagawara Metro pillar crash case after the high court registered a suo motu case in the city.

Earlier, on January 10, a woman and her child died after tonnes of steel from an under-construction Metro pillar came crashing down on them at a work site at HBR Layout on the Outer Ring Road near Nagawara. The woman, her husband and their two children were going on their two-wheeler when the incident occurred.

The police had booked an FIR against eight people and entities in connection with the deaths of the woman and her child. Later, the High Court registered a suo motu case. Acting on this, the police department has sent notice to the accused indicated that they should attend the hearing.
