12 high traffic density corridors in Bengaluru to be developed at Rs 273 cr

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the traffic police have come up with a plan to develop 12 high traffic density corridors in the city to ease traffic flow.

The BBMP and the traffic police have identified 12 major city roads as having heavy traffic congestion. In order to ease the traffic, the government has allocated Rs 273 crore for the road project which is to be completed within three years.

The BBMP and Traffic Police department have come up with a project to ease traffic in the city.

According to the report by the traffic police, the traffic problem has also increased due to manholes and rainwater not flowing smoothly. In the report, they have mentioned that 11 manholes in the city have obstructed the smooth movement of vehicles. Also, rain water stagnated on the road in 206 places, causing problems for the movement of vehicles during the rainy season.

The high traffic density corridors which will be developed

  • Ballari Road from Chalukya Circle to Hebbal
  • Old Madras Road from Trinity Circle to KR Puram
  • Old Airport Road from ASC Centre to Kadugodi
  • Sarjapur Road from Hosur Road, St John’s Hospital on Hosur Road, to Carmelaram flyover
  • Hosur Road stretch from Vellara Junction to Central Silk Board.
  • Bannerghatta Road from Dairy Circle to NICE Road
  • Kanakapura Road from KR Road to NICE Road
  • Mysuru Road from Hudson Circle to NICE Road
  • Magadi Road from Old Binny Mill to NICE Road
  • Tumakuru Road from Okalipuram to Goraguntepalya
  • West of Cord Road from Sandal Soap Factory to Mysuru Road
  • Outer Ring Road Road from Hebbal to KR Puram, Central Silk Board; Nayandahalli Junction Road to Goraguntepalya.

“First, we will look into the corridor project conditions. Before starting the project, we have to smoothen the road’s surface and improve junctions on the roads. We will construct bus bays as part of the project to ease traffic. We have already submitted the proposal to the government”, said BBMP Special Commissioner Ravindra.
