BENGALURU: After the Presidency University stabbing incident shocked the city, the State Women’s Rights Commission has now taken up a suo motu case against the college management in the murder and suicide attempt case. The colleg authorities also submitted a four-page report to the commission on the incident.
The report admits that there was a security lapse on the part of the college management as the security guards failed to recognise the youth as there are no ID cards for students. Hence, Pavan Kalyan entered the campus easily. He entered the college campus at 12.30 pm and called Layasmita to come out of the classroom and handed her a letter.
When Layasmita refused to accept the letter, he stabbed her after taking out a knife from his bag. The college authorities rushed her to a hospital in an ambulance but she was declared brought dead, the report said.
The Commission also questioned the students about drug abuse, ragging and gathered information from the Rajanukunte police station.
