BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has come with a new project to solve traffic congestion at Bhashyam Circle and has submitted a DPR to the government for a 500-metre-long flyover between Sankey Tank and Sadashivnagar, which will be built at a cost of Rs 60 crore.
The new flyover will pass above Bhashyam Circle near Sadashivanagar from Sankey Road in the city. The plan is to construct a four-lane flyover which will start near Sankey Tank and end near the Cauvery Theatre underpass. The road connects to four different places — Yeshwanthpur, Sadashivanagar, Malleswaram and Sankey tank.
The area sees heavy traffic density and preparations for the construction of the flyover are already under way. The pre-tender scrutiny committee has also agreed to construction of the flyover, and work will start as soon as the government gives its approval and the tender process is completed.
BBMP Chief Engineer B S Prahalad said, “The widening of Sankey Road is a long-pending demand, which will also be taken up. The Palike is planning to construct an integrated flyover in order to reduce traffic woes. The plan was approved by the Justice Ratnakala committee, (pre-tender scrutiny committee) and the tender process is also completed. Once the government approves it, construction work will start. It is not feasible to construct an underpass at Bhashyam Circle”.
