Police bust fake marks card racket in Bengaluru, arrest woman and 2 men

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have busted a fake marks card racket and arrested three people from Mahalakshmi Layout on Tuesday.

The police raided Venkateshwara Institute and arrested Shilpa, Kishore and Sharada. After questioning them, the police found many fake marks card and certificates from different institutions in their possession. The gang sold SSLC, PU, degree, post-graduation and Phd certificates and mark cards. The accused also sold fake marks cards of Karnataka State Open University and other universities across the country. More than 1,500 fake marks cards have been seized.

More than 1,000 documents related to fake marks card racket were seized.

“After receiving exact information about the fake marks card racket from an institution, the CCB police busted the racket. We found that the gang created fake SSLC, PU, degree and Phd certificates and marks cards  for money. We have found fake marks cards of many universities and secondary education boards. Except for MBBS marks card, they have created many fake mark cards for all other courses. During the raid, we seized more than 1,000 documents and detained seven people in all who were involved in the racket”, said Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy.

“Many of the others involved are in different parts of the country and we are investigating further. Many university certificates look authentic, and we will contact the respective universities to gather more information. We appeal to citizens not to contact these kinds of universities. We are verifying the information”, he added.
