Village accountant demands bribe from farmer for land documents

KOPPAL: A village accountant (VA) has been accused of demanding a bribe from a farmer for making corrections in the Records of Rights, Tenancy, Crops (RTC) at Hirekhed in Kanakagiri taluk on Wednesday. An audio and video clip of the conversation between the two went viral on social media. The audio clip is said to be from six months ago.

Village accountant Praveen Jones demanded a bribe from farmer Doddaiah. The land belongs to Siddappa Hadapada and both are relatives. Praveen demanded Rs 20,000 to do RTC correction work. Doddaiah had given Rs 16,000, but the village accountant had demanded Rs 4,000.

Farmers are now demanding the local authorities to take action against the village accountant for taking bribes.
