BENGALURU: The Central Election Commission has sought a detailed report in connection with the alleged voter data theft, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath said on Monday.

The Palike chief, who chaired a meeting at its headquarters, said action will be initiated based on the reports submitted by the four DCs and all those involved will face the heat.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath said a detailed report will be presented to the Central Election Commission.

“There is no pressure on us. A team was formed under the chief electoral officer and we have received four reports. We will submit a comprehensive report to the CEC and act as per their directions. All guilty officers will be suspended”, he said.

The internal report has highlighted lapses on the part of officials in distribution of ID cards to the booth-level officers (BLOs). Mahadevapura Revenue Officer Chandrashekar, Chickpet RO Bhimashankar and Shivajinagar RO Suhail Ahmed have been placed under suspension and action is likely against more officials in the coming days.
