BENGALURU: In a significant effort to bring in more accountability and discipline in the working of universities, the state government has listed out a schedule for university employees and any deviation may even lead to pay cuts.

A Public TV exclusive reveals that the government will start implementing these measures at Bangalore University for starters, and extend it to all other universities, going ahead.

The government says this will bring in more time discipline in universities and the Bangalore University staff have already been briefed about the changes.

Among the measures being implemented, employees and other staff have been warned that their salaries will be cut if a staff member arrives late without a valid reason.

Bangalore University staff and employees must attend office from 10 am to 5.15 pm on all working days. A 10-minute grace period is allowed for employees; if they arrive after that, it will be considered as leave for that day. Lunchtime will be only between 1.30 pm and 2 pm.

Employees’ name must be written in the log book if they have taken leave with permission. The employee or staffer’s name will be added to the leave list if prior permission has not been obtained. If employees and staff take leaves unnecessarily after the scheduled holidays, their salaries will be cut.

In case of emergency, staff or employees can take a break for 30 minutes with the permission of the head of the department. If the employee chooses to take leave after the 30 minutes, it will be considered as unauthorised leave, as per the new measures being implemented.
