DAVANAGERE: Thirteen days after Honnali MLA M P Renukacharya’s nephew Chandrashekhar’s body was found in a decomposed state in a canal, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report, which the police were awaiting, has revealed that he died due to overspeeding.
Though the post-mortem report had said that the cause of Chandrashekar’s death was water filling his lungs, the police were awaiting the FSL report for confirmation of the car accident. According to the government FSL report, the car was overspeeding and crashed into a canal after it hit a milestone near Soratur between Honnali and Nyamati.
Private forensic expert Dr Phanindra, who had recreated the scene, too has submitted a 40-page detailed report and concluded that it was an accident. One more level of examination is to be done, he added.
The forensic experts team had come from Davangere and Hubballi and recovered all the physical, biological and toxicological evidence from the accident spot.
Chandrashekhar is the son of M P Panchaksharaiah, an elder brother of Renukacharya. Chandrashekhar had gone missing on October 30. The car was spotted on CCTV camera at a toll plaza between Shivamogga and Nyamiti on around 1 am the next day. Three days after the incident, the body was found in his Hyundai Creta SUV in a decomposed state in the Tungabhadra canal near Soratur.
MLA Renukacharya had remained unconvinced with the police opinion regarding the cause of Chandrashekhar’s death. Now the FSL report has also confirmed that he died in a car accident.
