CHIKKAMANGALURU: In a rare instance, villagers of Kalakodu and Karle villages in Kalasa taluk, and staff of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), climbed a hill closeby for registering the villagers under the Ayushman health card scheme. They had to make the arduous trip as the villages are plagued by irregular power supply and consequently, no mobile network.

The SKDRDP had organised a Ayushman card registration programme for villagers. But villages like Sanse, Karle, Kalakodu face frequent power cuts and mobile network. Whenever there are power cuts, the mobile network too is completely down.

An elder women, one among the villagers of Kalakodu and Karle, claimed that, it is difficult for them to climbing hill.

But determined to complete the registration process, the villagers and SKDRDP staff trekked up a hill where mobile network was available and completed the registration process. Locals have lauded the commitment of the staff and volunteers.

An elderly woman from one of the villages said, “We don’t get mobile network in our village and there is no proper electricity supply. The SKDRDP staff came forwarded to register us for the Ayushman health cards. But due to the power cut issue, we all came to the hill region where mobile signals are available. As we are senior citizens, we could not even climb the hill. We are facing problems every now and then”.
