BENGALURU: Acid attacker Nagesh alias Acid Naga, who is lodged in jail, is suffering from serious gangrene infection in both his legs.

His condition is so critical that it his legs may be amputated from the lower part, if the situation worsens any further, according to police sources. The jail authorities are providing him necessary medical attention.

Nagesh was arrested by Kamakshipalya police in the case of an acid attack on a 25-year-old girl on April 28, as she did not accept his marriage proposal. He was absconding for 16 days and took shelter at an ashram in Thiruvannamalai, after disguising himself like an ascetic.

Nagesh is already undergoing treatment for gunshot wounds that he had sustained in his leg. The police had shot him in the right leg when he was trying to flee while being escorted back to the city from Tamil Nadu. He also allegedly attacked police officer Mahadevaiah on that day.
