HASSAN: A youth escaped after ditching his girlfriend as his parents opposed their inter-caste marriage. The girlfriend is distraught and Nishma has filed a complaint at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station in Bengaluru.

Surya R P (27) from Kallesomanahalli village in Channarayapatna taluk, and Nishma (26) from Kasaragod were working in White Gold company in Bengaluru. Surya was working in the Jalahalli branch and Nishma in Koramangala branch and both were in love.

For the last five months, Surya and Nishma were in a live-in relationship. Surya had also informed his parents about this. It is said that Surya’s parents had agreed to the marriage, but Nishma’s mother refused the marriage and cut off contact with her daughter.

Nishma has alleged that Surya’s friend Praveen told all sorts of false things about her to his parents and because of this, Surya’s parents are saying no to marriage. On September 24, Surya went missing leaving his phone behind and when his parents were questioned, they said they didn’t know anything. They allegedly threatened her that if she called them repeatedly, the consequences won’t be good.

Nishma burst into tears saying, “They have filed a complaint against me itself at Mahalakshmi Layout police station”. Distressed by this, Nishma attempted suicide by consuming poison. “Despite all this, Surya is still not traced. I will wait till coming Thursday”, she said. Nishma has made a video saying that if Surya does not come and marry her she will commit suicide, and said Surya, his parents and Praveen will be responsible for her death.

“I have been dying without food and sleep for fifteen days. He cheated by promising to marry. Surya’s parents have hidden him”, she claimed. She has made a tearful appeal to police to give her justice.
