BENGALURU: A drunk man rammed a Jaguar car into a petrol bunk after knocking down at least one staffer, resulting in the bunk and the car catching fire, near the state border in Attibele on Thursday. The drunk youth and a young woman, who were in the car, were luckily unhurt and the man was taken into police custody.

Three fire tenders extinguished the fire, but the car and petrol pump, Shri Varasiddhi Filling Station, belonging to one Hemanth, were completely charred. Bunk staffer Guddu Kumar suffered injuries in the limbs and was admitted to a private hospital.

Sanjay, who was driving the car, is a resident of Hosa Road near Electronics City. His father is a civil contractor who had purchased the second-hand car (KA 03 NG 3579) last December for Rs 28 lakh. The EMIs for the car had not even been paid for the last seven months.

On Wednesday night, Sanjay came in the car from HSR Layout and was driving towards Hosur with a young woman. He was reportedly heavily drunk and suddenly rammed the car into a petrol bunk staffer and then into a fuel pump, causing a major fire.

As soon as the accident occurred, Sanjay and the young woman got off the car and ran, but the bunk staff caught Sanjay and handed him over to the police.
