25-year-old gym trainer dies suspiciously, murder alleged

BENGALURU: A 25-year-old gym trainer died under suspicious circumstances at in Hebbala Kempapur in the city. The Amruthahalli police have taken four people into custody and are questioning them.

Nandan (25) is the gym trainer who died and four of his friends have been accused of assaulting and murdering him. On Saturday, Nandan left home saying there was the first year anniversary celebration of the gym and that he would return the next morning if he got late. After the anniversary celebrations Nandan had gone to an acquaintance’s apartment with other staff. At this time, an altercation ensued and Nandan was allegedly attacked. He later, died in a private hospital in Hebbal.

Nandan’s mother Manjula, who came to know about the issue, visited the hospital and claimed there were injury marks on Nandan’s body. She lodged a complaint with the Amruthahalli police alleging that an altercation happened in an apartment and Nandan was fatally assaulted. Based on her complaint, a murder case has been filed against four persons — Vishwanath, Sharath, Nishanth, Anush.

Manjula said, “Nandan told me there was an anniversary event in the gym and left home. He said he will return at night and that if it got late, he will come in morning. On Sunday afternoon, I got a call saying he is in hospital. There is suspicion that four people together assaulted Nandan. There are bite marks and injuries on back of the head. He was the lone support for me. He would tell me, ‘You have struggled for me all these days, from now
you live happily’,”. He used to do all work at home and go to gym. He is my only son, he did not have any bad habits also. He has name as good boy in the locality. I want justice for my son’s death”, with tears.

Sources said the altercation started over Nandan calling Vishwanath as his disciple (shishya). Vijay, Sharath also joined in Nishanth, Nandan and they hit Nandan with a flat glass object in the bathroom, causing severe injury on head. But in an intoxicated state, no one saw that Nandan had got injured and the incident came to light when they went to wake up Nandan around 10 am on Sunday.

Northeast division DCP G K Mithun Kumar said, on Monday, “A 25-year-old man, named Nandan, who worked as a gym trainer, has been murdered. The accused Vishwa, Sharath and Nishanth are also trainers. Nandan wass personal trainer to a person named Anush and the incident occurred when they had gone to Anush’s house for a party”.

Further, the DCP said, “After the party, they have gone to apartment. All are of same age. It seems the attack due to personal reason. A case has been filed and investigation is being conducted into why the altercation broke out and why Nandan was murdered”.
