BENGALURU: Six people of a family sustained serious injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded at their house at Vinayaka Layout in Nayandahalli around 6.20 am on Friday. All have been admitted to the burns ward at Victoria hospital where the condition of four children is said to be serious.
The family, hailing from Sirwar taluk in Raichur district, had been living in a rented house and had been residing in Vinayaka Layout since last 25 years. Karilingappa (40) and his wife Lakshmamma (43) are labourers. Their children are Chaitra (11), Basavanagouda (9) and three-year-old twins Geetha and Girija.

The gas leak occurred due to a faulty washer and the cylinder exploded when Lakshmamma tried to light the stove. Apparently, the cylinder leakage problem had been persisting for the last three days. While the mother Lakshmamma has suffered 70 per cent burns, Karilingappa sustained 45 per cent burn injuries.
