BENGALURU: A techie, who went to swim during trekking in an abandoned stone quarry, has been reported missing. The incident occurred at Yallamma Doddappa stone quarry near Jigani on Harohalli road on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Techie Vinay (30), who hails from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, was residing at Halasuru and was employed with a software company. Due to the long weekend with Gandhi Jayanti holiday on Friday, a group of eight people connected through Instagram group BLR Hike and went trekking.
During trekking, they went to swim in the water at a stone quarry around 5.30 pm on Friday when Vinay drowned in water while swimming. Others came out of the water and informed the police. Immediately, the Jigani police visited spot along with a fire brigade team and launched a search for Vinay. However, there has been no trace of him so far.
