BENGALURU: Bringing the Congress party back to power in Karnataka under his leadership is his next target before entering national politics, said Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
In and exclusive interview to Public TV, the CM also made a big statement about his next political path. “Me and my brother had gone to Delhi to invite our senior leaders for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. At that time, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi asked me to apply for the AICC president’s post. I smilingly refused it saying that the power given to me now is enough”, he recollected.
To HR Ranganath’s question on what his next goal is, CM DK Shivakumar said, “The Congress party should be brought to power under my leadership in state After that, I will go to national politics and stay for some time”, he said.
Speaking about groupism in the party, CM Shivakumar said, “I will not go forming a group, I have not done so. I will fight alone, groupism will not work, in Congress it will also not happen. Groups will only go for blackmailing and it is of no use to me in politics. I don’t care groups, the high command knows my capability”, said Shivakumar.
“Did Rahul Gandhi do groupism? Did Mallikarjun Kharge do groupism? Kharge could have done, dut did not. He resigned from the CLP post at midnight. Congress party itself searched and made him AICC president. The high command knows that I should give good administration and has kept faith on me. They knew that an opportunity should be given to me for having worked for the party. Likewise, the high command has faith that will bring the party back to power. I will retain the high command’s faith”, he said.
No back-stabbing
Further, speaking about the relationship between him and former CM Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar said, “I stood like a rock with Siddaramaiah and he also stands in my favour. Siddaramaiah will not give me trouble for any reason. I have not stabbed anyone in the back”, he said.
To a question on what he expects from Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar said, “I only expect cooperation, guidance from Siddaramaiah”. “BJP people are tracking me, they will not leave me alone, they are tracking me. They have sent officers from Delhi to Bengaluru. They are all around me and operating from delhi. Not only that, during election time, they were waiting to raid five-six ministers through IT-ED” said DK Shivakumar.
