TUMAKURU: A youth was thrashed by some women for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a five-year-old girl, at Arekere village in Tumakuru taluk on Friday evening. He was later handed over to the police.
Local women tied the youth, identified as Sahil, to a tree and beat him with slippers before handing him over to the police. The girl is said to a relative of accused and Sahil allegedly attempted to rape the girl by luring her.
Locals noticed this, caught Sahil and thrashed him severely. They then informed the Tumakuru Rural police who took the accused into custody. The girl is undergoing treatment at the Tumakuru district hospital and the Tumakuru Rural police have registered a case.
