BENGALURU: Though the central government has approved the allocation of 4,500 electric buses to the state under the PM E-Drive scheme, the state government has not yet taken any final decision in the Cabinet meeting.
Amidst this, the chief traffic manager of BMTC has issued guidelines for operating the 4,500 buses sanctioned for Bengaluru under the PM E-Drive and for including them in the depots.
The 4,500 buses were allocated zone-wise to 32 BMTC depots in Bengaluru. Instructions have also given to convert the existing depots into EV depots. However, a final decision on inducting the PM E-Drive scheme buses is yet to be taken by the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the BMTC has cleared 165 acres of encroached land in the last two years. the land had been illegally occupied by various encroachers.
The BMTC is moving forward with legal action against around 40 encroachers who occupied the land. BMTC land in Hancharahalli, Huchanapalya, Hirandahalli, Kengeri, Thotagere, Byrathi, and Kannur had been taken over by others.
