BENGALURU: A ‘vomiting gang’ is targeting BMTC bus passengers in the city. The central division police have arrested one team that was carrying out thefts in BMTC buses across the city and creating a nuisance.
The arrested accused are Mubarak Pasha and Anwar Pasha and cases have been registered in two divisions, including the Central Division of the city, regarding the modus operandi of the ‘vomiting gang’. Making ‘vomiting’ as an excuse, they pick the pockets of bus passengers.
The accused were targetting BMTC passengers seated in the window seat. First, they would convince the window seat passenger saying, that they felt like vomiting and request to give up. When the passenger vacates the seat, the 5-member gang would act as if there was a rush and fall on the person. Then the gang would pick pockets, purse and mobile phone from the person’s pocket.
After committing the theft, the gang would escape from the bus. Similar complaints about these accused have been registered at several places in the city. Currently, all the cases have been transferred to Vidhana Soudha police station for investigation.
As part of the case investigation, two accused from the Gang have been arrested. However, the main accused in the case along with three other accused have escaped. The search for the remaining accused is ongoing.
