BENGALURU: a Youth Congress leader has been arrested over his involvement the in Shankarapura kidnapping case. The accused was identified as Namith Gowda a.k.a Abhi, a former NSUI member from Hebbal Assembly constituency and current general secretary of the KPCC Hebbal unit.

When the police went to arrest him, Namith shouted at them saying, “Do you know who I am..? Do you know who our boss is?” Dropping the name of an influential minister in the government, he threatened the police. The minister even called the police and pressured them to release Namith.

This has raised questions if the minister himself is backing the accused and who he is. Namith has built up his image on social media by taking photos with Congress leaders including former CM Siddaramaiah, CM D K Shivakumar, as well as film actors and activists.
