CHIKKAMAGALUR: Four young children escaped from an ashram residential school at Tudakuru village in Chikkamagaluru taluk and set out towards Chikkamagaluru to go to their village. They were later brought back to the school by some locals.

Four children from Sri Maharshi Valmiki Ashram Residential School in Tudakuru village got scared after a fight among children on Monday night and left the hostel early on Tuesday morning with their bags to go to their village. All four children are from North Karnataka.

The children came out of the hostel, walked about 2 km, and were heading towards Chikkamagaluru city. When suspicious locals questioned the children, the matter came to light, and the locals safely dropped the children back at the hostel.

Locals questioned what the officials, warden and staff doing as they did not notice the children leaving with their bags and walking 2 km. They claimed this happened due to their negligence. The inconvenience and mismanagement in the school, which comes under the Social Welfare Department, have come to light.

Locals said it was good that they saw the children. “Otherwise, where would the little children have gone and how? If any mishap had occurred, who would be responsible?” they questioned. Locals also expressed dissatisfaction against the residential school management.
