BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), the city’s lifeline for daily commuters, has been more in the news of late over accidents than its service. In the last two months, BMTC buses have claimed six lives.
The BMTC, which provides connectivity to every corner of Bengaluru, is witnessing increasing accidents along with expanding its service and six innocent people have died in the last two months. Of these, three people died in BMTC accidents in just the last one week.

What Happened: Death of 21-year-old engineering student Shirisha.

What Happened: A woman, named Lakshmi, died after being run over by a BMTC bus while going to the hospital.

Place: Koramangala
What Happened: Bus hits delivery boy, resulting in his death on the spot.

Place: Sulibele, Hoskote
What Happened: Bus hits people travelling on a bike. Two from the same family died on the spot.

Place: Manganahalli, Jnanabharathi
Incident: Bus runs over a man who was walking. 58-year-old Raju died on the spot.
It is tragic that innocent lives are being lost due to BMTC mishaps. At least now, the officials concerned need to take more measures to curb BMTC accidents.
