BENGALURU: A college student, who also works at a momos outlet, was allegedly sexually assaulted at Maruthi Nagar in Madiwala, Bengaluru.
The young woman, a student at a private college, was working at a momos shop alongside her studies. The owners of the momos shop, Atul and Ghosh, invited her to a party on May 11. At that time, they informed her that they were planning to sell the momos shop and called a middleman named Hainas.
The four discussed the shop sale and had a party. After the party, Atul and Ghosh, who were with the student, went outside. At that time, the middleman Hainas allegedly raped the woman, and she has filed a complaint at Madiwala police station. But the victim has accused the police of not arresting the accused and instead being suspicious of her.
“I was working at a momos shop. The shop owners I work for, Amal Ghosh and Atul Ghosh, had organised a party at their house and Atul had brought alcohol. Accused Hainas, shop owner Amal Ghosh, and Shafeek T, all drank and partied together. When Hainas and I went to get food, while going up the stairs of a building, Hainas sexually assaulted me. I escaped from him and later informed the owner Amal Ghosh about the matter”, the victim said in a self-made video.
“After that, as I was feeling exhausted, I asked them to get something. Amal Ghosh and Shafiq went outside to get juice. Then Hainas tried to rape me. At that time Amal Ghosh and Shafiq came and rescued me. The accused tried to assault me with a liquor bottle. He threatened to kill me”.
“When I went to the police station to file a complaint about this, Suresh and Hainas threatened me outside the police station, saying ‘Come outside the police station, we will kill you’. After that, on May 15, Suresh came with nine unknown persons and assaulted Atul Ghosh, Shafeek, Manikanthan, and Murshid at the place where they live”, the victim has claimed.
The accused Hainas, who is from Kerala, is reportedly an acquaintance of the young woman. He has currently gone to Kerala and the police have issued a notice and summoned him for questioning. The accused has claimed that he had physical relations with consent. He told police he will provide documents related to that. He has been instructed to appear for questioning with the documents.
