Karnataka records highest ever 94.10 pc pass percentage in SSLC results this year

BENGALURU: The state has witnessed record-high of 94.10 per cent pass results in history in the SSLC examination this time after passing marks were reduced to 33 per cent. The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) announced the results on Thursday.

Students who scored 13 marks in the written exams and 20 in internal assessment have passed. Excluding the Covid year result (100 per cent), this is the highest result recorded in SSLC history for the first time.

Primary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, while announcing the results on Thursday, noted that girls have outperformed again this time. “Like PUC, SSLC has seen record results. “I congratulate the students”, he said while pointing out that a total of 7,24,794 students had passed.

There will be no SSLC Exam 3 and the Education Department will conduct only Exam 2. The last date to apply for answer sheet scanning is April 26 and the last date for answer script re-totaling, revaluation is May 4. The SSLC Exam 2 timetable was also announced and it will be held from from May 18 to May 25. There will be no Exam 3 due to high results Failed students can apply free of cost, the minister said.

Fee must be paid if applying for marks improvement, but there will be no fee if a student has failed in third language. There will be no fee even if applying for third language marks improvement. Across nine third language subjects, a total of 17,000 students failed, the minister noted.

Fresh students passed – 7,24,794 (94.1%)
Private fresh candidates passed – 1,277 (6.45%)
Regular repeaters passed – 33,631 (53.43%)
Private repeaters passed – 300 (8.42%)
Total result – 88.73% This means 94.1% of fresh students passed overall.

Third Language Hindi – 9,000 Students Failed
Students who took Third Language Hindi – 7,02,009.
Passed – 6,92,528 students.
Failed – 9,481 students.
Percentage – 98.7% pass.

Last Year’s Third Language Hindi Result
Students who took Third Language Hindi – 5,99,859.
Passed – 5,24,067 students.
Failed – 75,792 students.
Percentage – 87.4% pass.

The minister clarified that no grace marks were given for third language. “Let’s discuss the third language issue another day, not now”, Madhu Bangarappa replied to reporters when asked about the third language row. “I’ll speak separately about this in 2-3 days. If any changes are needed ahead, we’ll decide after discussing with CM”, he said.

Madhu Bangarapp said the department had taken measures taken to ensure no issues for PUC admissions due to historic results. “We have discussed with the CM as well. This result didn’t come by magic, it came through hard work. I’ll talk about the court matter another day. If failed students wish to go back to school, we will give them a chance to rejoin”, he said.

Madhu Bangarappa urged parents to enroll children in government schools and colleges. “We are improving basic infrastructure, so enroll in government schools/colleges”, he added.
