BENGALURU: A complaint has been filed at the Cyber Crime police station after miscreants created a fake WhatsApp group in the name of the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and were extorting money from unsuspecting people. The FIR has been registered against unknown persons.
The fake WhatsApp group’s DP has a photo of Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, and the criminals were allegedly threatening people and collecting money. It is said that they are calling numbers in Commissioner Seemanth Kumar’s contact list and sending WhatsApp messages demanding money.
The group was reportedly created from the number +6285743053278, and messages were being sent to everyone from that number. The police have now launched a hunt for the fraudsters.
Meanwhile, citizens are now questioning if fraudsters don’t even spare the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, what about the common people?
