BIDAR: A 21-year-old medical student was found dead in his hostel room at BRIMS College in Bidar on Tuesday. He allegedly hanged himself from a fan in his room.
Anishkar Chauhan, a final-year MBBS student, was a resident of Chincholi taluk in Kalaburagi district. The police and forensic teams visited the scene and are investigating the incident.
According to reports, Anishkar had lost Rs 80,000 in an online game, which might have led to his decision to take his own life. The police have found chat messages on his WhatsApp indicating that he was playing online games.
Speaking to the media, SP Pradeep Gunti said, “The student’s mobile phone has been seized and preliminary investigation reveals that he was playing online games. He had lost around Rs 80,000, which might have led to his decision to take his own life. We are investigating the matter and will take necessary action”.
Anishkar’s father Shamrao Chauhan expressed shock and grief, saying his son was a good student and didn’t have any issues. He claimed Anishkar had told him not to play online games, but he hadn’t mentioned anything about playing them himself.
The police are investigating the incident and have registered a case. The police suspect that Anishkar’s online gaming activities and financial loss led to his decision to take his own life.
Shamrao Chauhan expressed his frustration and sadness, saying, “We are shocked and devastated. My son was a good student, and I don’t know what led him to do this. The police are investigating, and I hope they will get to the bottom of this.”
The police have also spoken to Anishkar’s friends and classmates, who described him as a happy and cheerful person. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are trying to determine the exact circumstances leading up to Anishkar’s death.
