BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his frustration over his cabinet ministers’ lack of response to MLAs’ queries in the legislature.
In a strongly-worded letter, CM Siddaramaiah reprimanded his cabinet ministers for not responding to MLAs’ questions in the Assembly. He stated that 90 out of 245 questions remain unanswered, causing inconvenience to MLAs and embarrassment to the government.
The CM wrote that this reflects poorly on the government’s functioning and undermines the dignity of the House. Speaker U T Khader has also expressed displeasure, and secretaries have been asked to explain the delay. Siddaramaiah has directed ministers to respond to pending questions and inform MLAs of the timeline for answers.
Chief Secretary Shalini Rajanish issues notice to 8 IAS officers
Chief Secretary Shalini Rajanish has issued a notice eight eight IAS officers, asking them to explain why they haven’t responded to MLAs’ questions in the Assembly. This follows CM Siddaramaiah’s frustration and Speaker U T Khader’s protest, where he walked out of the session.
The officers include R Vinoth Priya (Animal Husbandry), Mohan Raj KP (Housing), N V Prasad (Transport), R Girish (Horticulture & Sericulture), Amlan Aditya Biswas (Public Works) and Rajender Kumar Kataria (Revenue). They must respond within a week, explaining the delay.
Currently, only 84 of 230 questions have been answered. The Speaker had expressed displeasure, saying the government was not taking the Assembly seriously. The CM later intervened, and the Speaker resumed the session.
