Notorious woman thief escapes from hospital after arrest

RAMANAGARA: A notorious woman thief escaped from Ramanagara district hospital’s Sakhi Centre where she had been taken for a medical examination after her arrest.

Mala (40), a habitual offender from Tamil Nadu, was arrested for stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh from a bus in Magadi. She had evaded police capture for 10 years, but was finally caught and brought to Ramanagara district hospital for medical examination.

While being held at the Sakhi centre, Mala managed to distract the police and escape. A case has been registered at Ramanagara Town police station, and a manhunt is under way to recapture her.
