Car occupants have lucky escape after container lorry overturns near Devanahalli

CHIKKABALLAPUR: A container lorry overturned on a highway in Mudugere of Devanahalli taluk, Bengaluru Rural district on Friday, narrowly missing a car. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed at a hotel nearby.

The lorry, carrying plastic pipes from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh to Hoskote, lost control while trying to overtake a tipper lorry and two-wheelers, causing it to overturn. Eyewitnesses said the container lorry was trying to squeeze past the vehicles when it toppled over.

The driver, Dharmendra from Bihar, and cleaner Lal Chand were injured and taken to Devanahalli government hospital. Miraculously, the occupants of the car, which was parked on the side of the road, escaped unharmed when the lorry narrowly missed it.

The police have registered a case, and an investigation is under way. The lorry’s cargo of plastic pipes was bound for Hoskote.
