BENGALURU: A shootout unfolded in Bengaluru early on Saturday morning with the police shooting and arresting Ranjan, a key accused in the murder of history-sheeter Pavan. The police tracked Ranjan to a secluded spot in Bagalur where he allegedly attacked them with a dagger.
Pavan, a history- sheeter from DJ Halli, was killed in Amruthjyothi Nagar, Sampigehalli, a few days ago. Police had formed three teams to track down the accused, with Sampigehalli Inspector Venkatesh leading one of the teams. The officer sustained an injury on the arm in the dagger attack.
DCP Mithun Kumar confirmed that seven accused have been arrested so far, and the investigation is ongoing. “Ranjan, the arrested accused, has four cases against him, including robbery.
The police acted in self-defence as Ranjan tried to attack them with a dagger. The accused was injured in the leg in the shooting, and he is currently under police custody”, the DCP said.
