BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has purchased a new litter picking machine for Rs 65 lakh to improve waste management in the city. The machine has been deployed by the Bengaluru North City Corporation.
The machine uses advanced suction technology to collect litter and debris from roadsides and drains. It is equipped with a hose pipe that sucks up waste and stores it in a container. It can also clear silt, leaves and semi-liquid waste easily. This will help reduce the workload of sanitation workers and improve the overall cleanliness of the city as black spots can be cleared easily.
Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar inspected the working of the litter picking machine himself. The machine is part of the efforts to modernise waste management in Bengaluru, especially in areas where manual cleaning is challenging.
