FIR filed against 6 people for cheating education trust of Rs 35 lakh with promise of Rs 100 cr CSR fund

BENGALURU: The police have registered a case against six individuals, including an aide of former Congress minister Kimmane Ratnakar, for allegedly cheating a private educational trust in Hennur area.

The complainant, who is the managing trustee of the college, alleged that the accused Amarapalli Suresh, promised to secure Rs 100 crore in CSR funds for the trust. Suresh, who claimed to be close to Kimmane Ratnakar, introduced the complainant to a Hyderabad-based individual, Venkataramana Bhat, who promised to secure the funds.

The accused allegedly obtained documents from the complainant and took Rs 35 lakh over a period of time through various accounts, including one belonging to a Shivajinagar-based cloth merchant. The police are investigating the case and are yet to make any arrests.

The complainant Yashoda K V alleged that the accused had promised to secure CSR funds from a prestigious company, but instead used the money for personal gain.
