BENGALURU: The Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru have busted a major racket and seized contraband worth crores of rupees in two separate operations. The officials arrested two individuals and recovered high-grade hydroponic ganja from their luggage.
In the first case, a passenger arriving from Hong Kong was found with 5.05 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.76 crore. The passenger’s baggage was inspected at the Immigration section, and the contraband was detected. In the second case, a passenger arriving from Bangkok was caught with 1.8 kg of ganja worth Rs 63 lakh. The contraband was found when the passenger’s suitcase was inspected.
The Customs officials are interrogating the accused and investigating the matter. The value of the seized ganja is estimated to be worth around Rs 2.39 crore. The officials have registered a case against the accused and are further investigating the matter.
