BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has allocated prime civic amenity (CA) sites worth crores of rupees to the Congress party for building party offices across the state. The Municipal Administration department has handed over these sites at highly subsidized rates, sparking controversy.
According to Minister Rahim Khan’s written response to BJP’s Chidananda Gowda in the Legislative Council, the government has allocated sites in 13 districts, including Bagalkot, Dharwad, Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Uttara Kannada, Raichur and Yadgir. This is despite objection from the Law department.
The allocated sites include:
– Bagalkot: Lokapur Town Panchayat site (market value: Rs 21,03,255, subsidized rate: Rs1,05,162)
– Dharwad: Navalgund Municipal site (market value: Rs 38,60,310, subsidized rate: Rs 1,93,015)
– Dharwad: Annigeri Municipal site (market value: Rs 31,70,750, subsidized rate: Rs 1,58,537)
– Bengaluru South: Magadi Municipal site (market value: Rs40,98,513, subsidized rate: Rs 2,04,925)
– Kalaburagi: Afzalpur Municipal site (market value: Rs 50,42,700, subsidized rate: Rs 2,52,135)
– Shivamogga: Shikaripura Municipal site (market value: Rs 11,50,000, subsidized rate: Rs 57,500)
– Shivamogga: Anavatti Town Panchayat site (market value: Rs 21,45,715, subsidized rate: Rs 1,07,285)
– Chitradurga: Holalkere Municipal site (market value: Rs 32,77,154, subsidized rate: Rs 1,63,857)
– Uttara Kannada: Haliyal Municipal site (market value: Rs 17,32,500, subsidized rate: Rs 86,625)
– Raichur: Manvi Municipal site (market value: Rs 16,05,900, subsidized rate: Rs 80,295)
– Yadgir: Shahapur Municipal site (market value: Rs 95,82,020, subsidized rate: Rs 4,79,101)
– Chikkaballapur: Gowribidanur Municipal site (market value: Rs 1,08,98,280, subsidized rate: Rs 5,44,914)

.The opposition BJP has raised questions over the government’s decision, alleging that the sites were allocated at throwaway prices, depriving the state of crores of rupees in revenue.
