VIJAYAPURA: Two armed robbers stormed into a jewellery store at Halsangi village in Chadachan taluk, pointed a pistol at the owner, and looted gold and silver worth several lakhs of rupees. The robbers took away 305 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of silver and the incident was captured on CCTV camera.
Two masked robbers, wearing helmets and black jackets, entered Maharudra Kanchagar’s jewellery store and made off with gold and silver. They fired two shots in the air and injured a bystander, Atmalinga Hugar.
The robbers wore gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints and used a black Honda Unicorn motorcycle to escape. The police have registered a case and are investigating based on the CCTV footage. The police suspect that the robbers may have fled to Maharashtra.
The robbery has left the store owner, Maharudra, and his wife, Prema, devastated. “The robbers made off with 305 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of silver. This was our livelihood. We were struggling to repay our debts. Now, we don’t know what to do”, said Maharudra, breaking down in tears before Public TV.

The robbery took place in broad daylight, with the robbers wearing masks, helmets, and gloves, and arriving on a bike. They fired a shot at a local, Anil, who was trying to capture the incident on camera, but it hit another person standing nearby instead. The robbers’ brazen act has left the community shaken, and the police are investigating the case.
