BENGALURU: A man was arrested after he was accused of cheating women by posing as a potential groom on matrimonial apps. He would target women, gain their trust, and then cheat them of their money.

Vijay Raj Gowda would use fake documents and court papers to convince his victims that he needed money for various reasons, including bank account issues. He allegedly extracted around Rs 50 lakh from one victim.

The police have registered multiple cases against Vijay, including one in North CID, and have frozen his bank accounts. He has a history of similar crimes, with cases registered against him in Kunigal, Vidhana Soudha, and Kengeri police stations.

Vijay allegedly used fake signatures and seals to deceive his victims. He also posed as a person with connections to former MP DK Suresh and claimed to help people secure tenders. The police are investigating Vijay’s activities, and he is currently in custody.
