BENGALURU: A group called ‘Indian Ploggers Army’ took it upon themselves to clean up the mess left behind on Brigade Road after New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Dressed in fitness gear, they picked up trash, including plastic and liquor bottles, alongside municipal workers. The team, which combines jogging with cleaning, raised awareness about maintaining cleanliness. “People throw trash on the ground even when dustbins are available. We’re working to change that”, said Plog Raja, a team member. They’re promoting fitness and environmental awareness, one cleanup at a time

“Over the last eight years, we have been taking up plogging at different localities along with Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. The beauty of plogging is that you can pick up litter on the go. The GBA picked up about 10 tons of trash from 3 am. We want to convey the message that our trash is our responsibility”, Plog Raja said.

Bharathi, another volunteer and chartered accountant said, “People make resolutions about fitness, but the first thing is to keep the planet clean. People should bring their own cutlery and bottles and avoid single use plastic. People think recycling is easy, but it mostly goes to landfills”.
